What is padel?

Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world.
A mix between tennis and squash, it is played in doubles on a 20 x 10 m enclosed court surrounded by glass walls.
Easy to pick up from day one, impossible to put down after your first rally.

Padel rules — the basics

Matches are played 2 vs 2. The serve is made underarm, cross-court. The ball can bounce off the glass walls — that is the magic of padel. Scoring is the same as tennis (15, 30, 40, game). A match is played as best of 3 sets, with a tie-break if needed.

The padel court

A padel court measures 20 m × 10 m (vs 23.77 m × 8.23 m for tennis). It is enclosed by metal fencing and glass walls on the sides and back. Two service boxes are marked in the centre. The enclosed layout creates longer, more spectacular rallies.

What level do I need to start?

No level required. Padel is famous for its gentle learning curve: within an hour you are already rallying consistently. Tennis players adapt fast, but complete beginners progress just as quickly. On PadelVibe, you can set your level (1 to 7) and find matches that suit you.

Padel equipment

You need a padel racket (solid frame, no strings) and specific padel balls (slightly less pressurised than tennis). Non-marking tennis or padel shoes are recommended. That is all — no need to spend a fortune to get started.
